His Venerable Master Zhang Shangde (Chang Shang-Te)  One of the most renowned and revered cultivator in China. A great teacher in the Buddhism tradition, especially in Vijnaptimatrata. Professor Zhang Shangde was born in Hunan, and is now 79 years old. He was graduated from Taiwan University, Philosophy Institute, and has been a professor for various universities. As the most eminent student of the renowned Master Nan Huaijing for over 50 years, he is the founder of the Dharma Avademy. He is now living at a monastry in Taiwan and is teaching Vijnaptimatrata for over 20 years He has written several books in these subjects, and has translated several western classic philosophy books. He speaks with the authority of first hand experience - being a great scholar, a great action master and a great teacher at the same time. Someone with such an aggregate of qualities are hard to find in this arid age in which words and deeds rarely match. His Venerable Master Zhang, is one of the best-known and influential Ch’an meditation master of this time. From the sermons and instructions regarding high dharma delivered by him, it was obvious to these close disciples what his level of attainment is. Their indelible impression gained therefore has always served to testify to that fact. He has been teaching western and eastern philosophy and Buddhism teachings and meditation for almost 30 years now. His disciples included followers from all parts of As the eminent disciple of His Venerable Nan Huaijin, Master Zhang inherits the spirit of all Ch’an meditation masters ever since Buddha himself. |
